Disability Support Workers

Overview

We are looking for candidates with a diverse range of experience supporting people with a disability including children and young people. This may include working with clients with a disability, trauma-based behaviours, residential care setting, education and/or experience in the aged care sector.

We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated and diligent individuals, with the ability to think on their feet. They will be resilient, and solutions focused with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

Requirements

Essential Requirements

- Working with Vulnerable People (Employee, not volunteer) preferable with NDIS endorsement.

- A National Criminal History Background Check no older than 6 months.

- Current Australian Drivers Licence.

- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or HLTAID003).

- Assist Clients with Medication Accrediatation (HLTHSP006) .

- Recognise Healthy Body Systems Accreditation (HLTAAP001).

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You.


Our Desirable Requirements

- Hold a minimum of Certificate 3 in Community Services (or a similar qualification); and

- Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Training.

About The Company

SWN is assisting a local, established Disability Service Provider that is calling for expressions of interest for the role of Disability Support Worker across all our program areas in the Southern Tasmanian region including on a permanent part-time and casual basis.

Their Program Areas Include:

Respite Options (RO) is a Short-Term Accommodation (STA) service where clients can experience a range of different activities and adventures. We also offer Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) services for clients looking to ease into an independent living arrangement or transitioning home from a hospital stay.

Home and Living - Our Home and Living program is a 24/7 rostered care model that provides safe, stable and a calm home environment for clients with a disability to help them live in their home.
Much like Home and Living, Children’s Services is also a 24/7 rostered care model that provides safe, stable and a calm home environment for children and young people with a disability in Out of Home Care.
The Support Worker in these programs works across a 24/7 roster including sleep overs and weekends and reports to the Program Manager.

Community Access - The Support Worker works across our Community Access programs operating during the day Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am to 3:15pm, with potential after hour shifts offered within our social program space offered on an ad-hoc basis.
