Volunteer Learner Driver Mentor

Overview
SWN are currently supporting Jordan River Service Inc to attract Volunteer Learner Driver Mentors for their Top Gear Program. Volunteer Learner Driver Mentors provide supervised driving experience to learner drivers, helping them gain the required hours of practice to develop safe driving skills and build confidence on the road.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide supervised driving sessions with learner drivers following all road rules and safety standards
-Offer guidance and feedback to learners to support their progress toward obtaining a driver's licence
-Maintain accurate records of driving sessions, including hours completed and areas of improvement
-Ensure the vehicle is driven in a safe and responsible manner at all times
-Communicate any issues or concerns to the Program Coordinator promptly
-Represent JRS positively by demonstrating professional behaviour, personal presentation and respectful interaction with learners, staff and other volunteers
Requirements
A valid drivers licence and clean driving record
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and respect the privacy of all learner drivers
The ability to understand, interpret and follow road signage, driving manuals and written instructions, maintain accurate driving logs and provide written feedback on learner performance when required
Ability to explain driving concepts clearly and patiently, offering constructive feedback to learners
Must demonstrate responsible and safe driving habits at all times. Mentors are expected to be punctual, reliable, and maintain a positive and supportive attitude
Maintain a clean, tidy and professional appearance when interacting with learners and other staff members
Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures, including the JRS Code of Conduct, road safety regulations, and safeguarding guidelines
Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People clearance
Desirable
Previous experience in mentoring or teaching, particularly in a driving of road safety context
Familiarity with local road rules and regulations
