Arbre is running the next Forestry Operator Pre-Employment Program on the 24th to 28th August 2026 and applications are now open.

Below is a summary of the Program:

The training will be delivered at the SWN Jobs Hub in Pontville, Tasmania, by Timber Training Creswick (RTOID 4168). The operate a forest machine simulator in a virtual environment training unit will be conducted on John Deere Forestry Simulators using the Timberskills training package, covering basic machine control skills and IT systems knowledge.

These programs are designed to be conducted in small groups and will only run with 10 trainees per course, ensuring that Trainers can give more individual attention to each trainee. The cost per trainee for this training Program is $1250.00.

This entry level program is a 5 day course and will provide the following Certificate II Forest Operations units of learning:

• Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures in forest and wood products operations
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge required to follow established workplace health and safety policies and procedures when performing work in a forestry or wood products work environment.

• Follow environmental protection procedures in forest and wood products operations
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge required to follow established environmental protection procedures when performing work in a forestry or wood products work environment.

• Operate a forest machine simulator in a virtual environment
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge required to use a forestry machine simulator in a virtual forest environment for practicing work methods before learning to operate real equipment.
